Gesbert will go far

Elie, a Team Fortuneo-Oscaro rider and professional for only 11 months now, won for the first time on the Tour Of Brittany last April. The young talented Frenchman is on his first Grand Tour. Since the start of the first Tour of his career he is multiplying the records. He was the first to start on the time trial in Düsseldorf, the day of his 22nd birthday and being the youngest in the peloton.

Yesterday, he didn’t hesitate to go on the attack with Yoann Offredo (Wanty-Groupe Gobert). Together, they did 167 km in the lead being reeled in by the peloton at 5km from the stage end. The youngest of the Tour is cumulating the firsts and he got to taste close up the incredible atmosphere and fervour on the side of the roads of the Tour de France. With talent and great passion for this cycling talent, he is a perfect representative of the Team Oscaro values. To top it all of, he won the Most Combative award of the day.

I got to experience my first attack on the tour and my first podium. The spectators encouraged me for 167km. The Combativity award wasn't my goal this morning, but it was a great moment. I was changing between Chris Froome and Marcel Kittel. I am not one to get impressed quickly, but i had chills on the podium, i want to get back up there.

Emmanuel Hubert, Manager of the team declared this morning to us:

The dream of any young cyclist is to participate in the Tour de France, to see the spectators and the magic. I think that Elie has given back to the Tour what it has given to him since his birth. It isn't finished yet, he is at the dawn of a great career, he has great physical qualities. What happened yesterday was just a test run.
