The young and talented Team Oscaro driver, John Filippi, will participate in the 2017 World Touring Car Championship in a Citroën C-Elysée (the current World Championship title car) with Sebastien Loeb Racing.
We sat down with Sebastien Loeb, chairman of SLR and our driver John Filippi for their first reactions.
SL : “I am very happy that we can sign this contract together. John is a young driver that is starting to get experience, he has cut his teeth on other cars. He is coming into our Team and we have the means to give him what he needs for him to fully express himself. When I started my career, I was already older than he is today, my first rally was at 22 or 23 years old on a regional level. He has time in front of him and potential, it’s the right moment to do great things together. “
JF : “I am very happy, I will be climbing into a new car that has already proven itself, in a great team. When I go out on the circuit for the first tests I will be able to judge where I am at and what gap I will have to close to get to the highest level. I can’t wait to meet my team and my engineer to start working! The winter has been long, I really want to get back into that paddock atmosphere, my sensations at the wheel of a great car and being in a great team! I can’t fix myself a goal yet, I will know more after the first tests. You really need to be humble when you are at the wheel of a powerful car like this. The biggest challenge will be to exploit it 100%.”
The first tests will be held in Spain in February. For this occasion, he will be able to get familiar with the car, meet his new team and his new teammate Tom Chilton.
